As a parent, you know you need to select your baby’s food wisely. But even though more and more brands are turning up in the stores, the very best food you can serve your baby is still the kind you prepare yourself. Here’s why:
Purity
When you make your own baby food, you’re the one choosing the ingredients (if ever there was a time to buy organic, this is it). Babies don’t need sweeteners, fillers, or artificial anything — just fresh, healthy food.
Convenience
Baby food can be prepared in large batches and frozen in single-serving containers, so the food is ready when you are.
Color
It’s important to babies, and fresh vegetable and fruit purees are beautiful and vibrant.
Flavor
Combinations taste wonderful — plum pear, squash apple, green-pea chicken — and you’ll find ones to satisfy even the most finicky eater.
Do You Know?
An 8-month-old may think a spoon is really a toy, so hands are the best utensils.
Baby food making classes are forming now. Call to see if one is forming in your area or get your own group together of up to 10 mommies. Contact me for available dates.

When I got married someone gave us an immersion blender. I had always seen chef’s using them, but never tried one for myself. Intimidated by it, it sat in the box for a few years. Then, one day, I was making a homemade tarragon mayonnaise (yes, I remember the exact moment!) and it clearly stated in the recipe that an immersion blender would work best. I liberated my gift and a new friendship was formed. I still use the same one to this day – an Oster by Sunbeam.

Mine is so old, they don’t even make it anymore, but the new version, I’m sure, is just as good. Most of the hand blenders come with a few attachments, but honestly, the only thing I ever used was the “cup” that came along with it – perfect for one smoothie, a batch of mayo, sauces and marinades. Once mine needs replacing, I might try this one,
The Breville Cordless Hand Blender
The cordless option intrigues me…and I like the look of it and the counter top charger. No matter what brand you buy, trust me, it will be your new best friend. Creamy soups, instant sauces, smooth batters and smoothies will be a click away.

First of all – THANK YOU to everyone who has really shown support for this venture. As I perfect the website, there are some questions that keep popping up, so I thought I’d do a little Q&A here to help out. Here are what seem to be the most asked questions so far….
- Can you please let me know when a class is going to happen in my area? I’ll be honest, most of the classes are those that were formed by a guest (just like you) and they were able to get a group of 4-8 women together and open up one of their kitchens for a fun night (or afternoon). Having said that, I AM adding scheduled classes. You can either call me or keep checking back to see when and where the classes will be.
- How much is it for just me? Well, after today, there will be a “book this class” button in the My Products page called “Individual class payment”. This will be for those of you who are filling in scheduled classes and do not have a group of your own. All classes need to be paid for prior to the class date.
- Do I have to use my kitchen? If you are a fill in student, then a kitchen has already been determined and you will receive the address once you have paid for class. If you are forming a group, then one of those students may want to offer their kitchen for use. I do have access to other kitchens so please always ask if you are unsure!
- My kitchen is so small! So is mine!! The honest truth is, your kitchen does not need to be state of the art to host a cooking class! In fact, I love teaching in “honest” kitchens, because then you really see how easy it can be to cook great meals, without all of the bells and whistles!
- Can I pay by check? Yes! But, it must be done through this site. Paypal will accept checks, wire transfers, credit cards and paypal to paypal payments. All payments must be made prior to your scheduled class.
- Do we watch the class or participate? This is completely up to your group. Some are more comfortable with a glass of wine, watching as I prepare specific dishes. Others really want to be hands on. It’s your group class, so you decide. Fill in scheduled classes will say in their descriptions if they are hands on or demonstrative. Most of the Baby Food Making classes are demonstration only.
As I get more questions, I will add to this list. I hope this is useful for now. Thanks again for your support and please don’t forget to contact me via e-mail at the “Contact Me” page to your right with any questions!
Happy Cooking!!
